Marin County Arbor Week,
the week prior to Winter Solstice, December 11-17, 2011

January 2012

The lack of rain so far this winter has us worried about the acorns volunteers planted in December at the Smith Ranch Rd. exit off Hwy 101. These dry conditions will cause a new root to wither and die.  ARE YOU AVAILABLE TO HELP WATERING TEAM ON SATURDAY MORNINGS UNTIL IT RAINS? Tree chips from the removal of urban trees are scheduled to be spread around the tree shelters to help suppress weeds and cool the soil for the oak seedlings

Street trees planted by volunteers in November will receive their first visits in January. Each adjacent property owner who adopted the street trees will be provided a monitoring form stating who visited their tree and an update on the progress of their tree.

School plantings depending upon the weather. Brookside Upper Elementary School-Fairfax, and Reed Elementary School Tiburon. Let us know if you want to participate.
