Brixie Tree

     Celebratory trees are available as honorariums for the birth of a child, an anniversary, a promotion, retirement, and for many more ways that life provide us. Memorial trees commemorate the end of someone's life.

We locate special, prominent sites for these trees through our various contacts in Marin County; all towns and cities, Marin County Open Space and Parks District, Marin Water District, state and federal parks with in Marin. We have also assist in locating sites with other ReLeaf groups throughout California.

Each dedication is assigned a number in our historical book which goes back to 1992. The first page is dedicated for the birth of a child, the fiftieth for a golden wedding anniversary.

 

It is available for private viewing on appointment. Occasionally it accompanies us at special events and exhibits.

 

Your tree will be planted during the next planting season in Marin County; November through February. If irrigation can be provided it may be planted during other months. Markers are not suitable because they inhibit the growth of trunk which may take several decades and there may be no one watching out for this potential problem. The tree will be maintained by the receiving agency's arborist and will be given standard care as described by the International Society of Arboriculture; however these measures cannot guarantee the life of the tree. 

The honored person, or business receives a letter from us of your dedication. A copy is sent to you. At that time, we inquire about interest in attending planting day. After which, we prepare a certificate with our seal, the species, location and GPS address of the tree for future reference. It is mailed to the person you indicate and a copy sent to you.

Your original letter, a photo of planting day and any other documents generated by this event are kept with the certificate.

The fee for this service is $125, and guarantees a minimum 15-gallon tree, larger in some cases. 

We need to know the following:

Whether it is a memorial or honorarium
Name of the person's & occasion if  honorarium
Your preference of species
Your choice of planting location, if possible
